Questions, answered
What's the difference between a song and a take?
A song is what you write in Dugatto: the style prompt, the lyrics and the cover. It has no audio. A take is one recording of that song, either rendered right here or made in Suno and uploaded. One song can have many takes.
What are bands and albums?
The way you file finished songs, like a label would. A band is the act the song belongs to, with its own name and cover. An album is a set of songs under that band, in order, with a cover of its own. Every Maestro member can create as many of each as they like; Apprentice can see and remove them but not make new ones.
What's a master, and do I need one?
A master is a take with its loudness, tone and peaks set for release, so it sounds right next to other tracks on streaming services or a CD. You don't need one to listen or share a demo. You want one before you release a track.
Why does mastering need a WAV, and where do I get one?
A WAV is the full recording. An MP3 is a smaller copy that has already thrown detail away, and mastering pushes a recording hard enough to make that loss audible. Streaming services then compress whatever you upload again, so starting from an MP3 means losing twice. That's why distributors ask for WAV, and why Dugatto's mastering only accepts it.
Takes rendered in Dugatto are MP3 today, because the model we render with only returns MP3; we'll add WAV renders the moment it offers them. For a release, make your final audio somewhere that gives you a WAV, such as Suno's WAV download or an export from your DAW, then master that here. Rendering is in beta; the Terms cover what you can do with generated audio.
Can I master a track I made in Suno?
Yes. Download it from Suno as a WAV file if your Suno plan offers it, open Master, and upload it. Apprentice includes one master; Maestro includes up to 120 a month (fair use).
What happens when I run out of takes?
On a paid plan, top up 20 more for $5 whenever you like; they bank and never expire. Uploads never count against your takes. On Apprentice, your song, its style prompt and lyrics stay yours to copy into Suno; to render more takes and start more songs, move to Maestro: 50 takes a month.
How much can I store?
Uploaded and rendered takes both use your audio storage: 1 GB on Maestro, 10 GB on Impresario. Songs, styles and lyrics are text and don't count.
What is the signed record of how a song was made?
Dugatto keeps a dated log of every step you take with a song: the idea you started from, what the AI drafted, each line you rewrote, each version you saved, the take you picked and the master you approved. Dugatto signs that record with its own key so no one can quietly change it. Every plan keeps the log; Impresario can export the whole thing as one document.
Can I cancel?
Any time, online, from Account → Billing. Your plan runs to the end of the period you've paid for, then your account moves back to Apprentice. Your songs stay.
